Hi, I am Amelia Spackman, an overseas student from the United Kingdom and I recently had the privilege of getting an inside tour of Carlton Football Club’s grounds and training facilities.
The tour was organised by Ormond College, a residential college of the university of Melbourne, and was a brilliant way to start the day. A group of about 20 eager students arrived at the club on a bright Wednesday morning to be shown the high-tech training systems, the training grounds, the trophies and everything else in between.
This experience was fascinating, as before the tour I knew little of Australian Rules football except that it kind of resembled rugby, but have now been converted and can’t wait to go and watch my first game! Carlton has amazing training facilities and to get a tour around my local club was awesome. I know the other students and I all felt like sports stars, when we looked out across the stadium at Visy Park. Everyone I spoke to couldn't stop raving about how special it felt to see the inside going on’s of such a big sporting team. Those that stayed in bed definitely missed out.
All that's left to say is Go The Blues!
