Carlton Supporting the Victorian Bushfire Appeal

Carlton has joined the Australian community in providing support for the victims and helping to raise funds for the Victorian Bushfire Relief Appeal. The players, coaches, staff and directors have made donations direct to the Appeal and we encourage everyone to give money to support the local communities hit hardest by the bushfires.
“We all want to help and to make a difference and the most immediate impact we can make is through the direct support of the Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund. This is providing funds to those who are providing the direct support to those most in need,” said Carlton CEO Greg Swann.
“The players have certainly rallied in support and are making significant contributions and are continuing to discuss other ideas on how they can add to this initial support. There is a personal element for the players with Caleb Tiller’s family home at Buxton being one of hundreds of homes destroyed by these devastating fires,” Swann added.
A number of Carlton players have been involved in special visits to some of the areas and will also be involved with the AFL NAB Cup Bushfire Appeal Match on Friday, assisting with fundraising on Channel Seven during the match as well as the National Bushfire Appeal on Channel Nine on Thursday evening.
In addition to the contributions already made, the club and players will provide further support, including the following:
- Donate equipment and clothing to those in need
- Donations direct to the Red Cross at Carlton’s Family Day at Visy Park on Sunday
- Auction off special guernseys and opportunities on the Club Website with proceeds going to the appeal
- Work with club sponsors to generate further donations
“We will continue to investigate how we can best assist and will liaise with the relevant organisations to ensure this support is provided to those hardest hit. Importantly we are determined for this support to be ongoing, while the immediate support is vital, we understand that this is a long-term project and requires a commitment from the club now and in the future,” Swann said.
Everyone is urged to join the players to donate direct to the Appeal by calling 1800 811 700 or by visiting www.redcross.org.au
