A day after their season opener against Richmond, Carlton players paid a visit to the Royal Children’s Hospital to help raise funds for the Good Friday Appeal.

Carlton’s vice-captain Kade Simpson was joined at the hospital by fellow teammates Matthew Wright, Dennis Armfield, Ed Curnow, Andrew Phillips, Nick Graham, Jason Tutt, Cameron Wood and Andrejs Everitt.

The players spent time visiting wards, chatting to the children and their families, and no doubt putting smiles on faces.

Versatile midfielder Dennis Armfield, who won the Jim Stynes Community Leadership award last year, says it’s wonderful to play a part in the iconic Victorian fundraiser.

“The Good Friday Appeal is such a massive fund raising event for the Royal Children’s Hospital, so we always jump at the chance to get involved,” Armfield said.

“It’s great to give back to the community and put smiles on young kids faces.”

Since its inception in 1931, the Good Friday Appeal has become Victoria’s biggest fundraising event and has raised over $291 million for the Royal Children’s Hospital.
