In 2008, through our partnership with Visy, Carlton’s community involvement will include education programs relating to the environment in a pro-active campaign to increase awareness of recycling and our environment. WORK
Our job is on the field, but many Carlton supporters work in offices where a lot more can be done to fight climate change. Improving daily workplace habits can make a huge difference to your company’s carbon footprint. Areas to think about are paper, energy, waste and recycling.

Fact:
The greenhouse gas emissions from the Australian corporate sector, is equivalent to running 26 million cars for one year!

Reduce paper use:
- Use blank scrap paper for notes
- Set up printers to print double-sided
- Only print emails and documents that are particularly important

Reduce your energy consumption:
- Turn off office lighting and computers when not in use
- Activate sleep mode on computers screens to switch off after 10 minutes
- Switch off office equipment at night

Reducing your waste:
- Bring your lunch to work to reduce packaging used for take-away meals
- Take home compost waste, if your office doesn’t have a food scraps bin

Make sure your office has access to recycling facilities:
- Arrange for your work to have recycling bins
- Place all used paper and cardboard boxes in a recycling bin
- Dispose of plastic bottles, aluminium tins and drink cartons in a commingled recycling bin. If you don’t have one, let your environmental officer know.
