The Carlton Football Club celebrated Citizenship Day by hosting a citizenship ceremony at Visy Park on Monday night.

The ceremony was conducted by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) and was the final step for the 41 people from 20 different countries in becoming Australian citizens.

Carlton great Justin Madden welcomed the new citizens who all affirmed their loyalty and commitment to Australia, expressing their support for the values and principles that underpin their citizenship.

Jason Reddick, one of five trustees on the Carlton Community Fund, also addressed the new Australians. He highlighted the Carlton Community Fund’s Multicultural Program and mentioned that the ceremony was just one of the ways the club was looking to help refugee and multicultural communities integrate into Australia through our unique game, AFL.
