A Special Day for Cooper
It may not have been the right ending to the day for Cooper Johnson but he still had a big smile on his face after the Carlton match against the Bulldogs.
It may not have been the right ending to the day for Cooper Johnson but he still had a big smile on his face after the Carlton match against the Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
Cooper spent the late afternoon in a suite at Etihad Stadium, thanks to the generosity of Ian Collins and the team at the venue, with his mum and grandparents. An avid Carlton supporter from Tasmania, Cooper has been in Melbourne receiving treatment since late last year, and Challenge - supporting kids with cancer, together with the Carlton Football Club, organised a special day at the football for him.
Being at the game to see his Blues in action was a real treat and then to have Rhys O’Keeffe and Patrick McCarthy come into the suite for a visit before the game was a real bonus. The Carlton players presented Cooper with a special Carlton cap and also gave him one for his dad, also a Carlton supporter. Unfortunately his dad wasn’t at the game as he had returned home to Tasmania earlier in the day.
It was a great start to a day at the football for a special young Carlton supporters, unfortunately the on-field result wasn’t what Cooper or any Carlton supporter wanted. However there is no doubt it is a day Cooper will remember.
The Carlton Football Club is pleased to work with Challenge - supporting kids with cancer and thanks Etihad Stadium for the assistance in making it a special day for Cooper.
