Blues host Islamic Schools Cup
On the 17th July, the Carlton Football Club hosted the inaugural Islamic Schools Cup featuring five Islamic schools from around Melbourne.
All games were played in good spirits and captured the themes for day, ‘Fair Play’ and ‘Harmony’. Designated eating and prayer times brought the students together and enabled the schools to interact and enjoy the day together.
The premiers on the day were Australian International Academy. The win capped off a successful month for the school who also received the Carlton Community Commitment Award, recognising the schools outstanding commitment to improving their local Islamic community through sport.
Carlton's Simon White presented the Islamic Schools cup to the winners of the competition.
"The students seemed to love the day. This event is a great initiative and one I hope the club can make bigger and better next year," White said.
