FORECAST FOR SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN MELBOURNE:

Showers – top of 17 degrees.

BLUEOUT GUERNSEY:

When Carlton lines up for its second home game of 2017, the Blues will sport a new look, one that pays homage to Carlton – the suburb.

In conjunction with long-standing apparel partner Nike, the new-look guernsey takes inspiration from the traditional bluestone appearance commonly discovered in heritage streets throughout the suburb.

With the bluestone look sublimated in the guernsey, the Blueout will see a navy monogram on the navy guernsey for the first time in the Club’s 153-year history. In a further change, the playing numbers on the back of the guernseys are keylined and the word ‘CARLTON’ is proudly displayed on the back of the jumper, replacing the crest which used to sit above the number.

MADDEN CUP:

For the 21st time on Sunday, Carlton and Essendon will battle it out for the Madden Cup.

The Madden Cup is named in honour of brothers Justin and Simon, who between them played 710 games for Carlton and Essendon.

With the Bombers the reigning winners of the cup, the Blues will have extra incentive to bag the four points on Sunday and see the silverware return to Ikon Park.

DEBUTANT: TOM WILLIAMSON

After being selected by Carlton with pick 61 in the 2016 national draft, Tom Williamson will make his AFL debut on Sunday afternoon.

The former North Ballarat Rebel featured in Carlton’s second JLT Community Series match against St Kilda and has also demonstrated his potential during the Northern Blues' pre-season matches.

The 18-year-old is a skillful medium defender/midfielder who can break games open with his speed.

RING OF HONOUR: BRYAN QUIRK

Carlton’s 167-game and one-time premiership player Bryan Quirk will ring the historic old blue bell at the top of Carlton’s race 15 minutes prior to the first bounce, before being inducted into the Carlton Ring of Honour on Sunday afternoon.

Quirk made his Carlton debut in Round 3, 1965 against South Melbourne and featured in the Blues’ premiership victory in 1968.

In his first season he took home the Terry Ogden Memorial Trophy as the best first-year player in 1965 and nine years later he received the Best Clubman Award.

Quirk was also inducted into the Carlton Hall of Fame in 2006.
