Carlton’s Matthew Kreuzer has done it again, though this time with his captain by his side.
For the third straight week, the reliable No.8 has earned a place in AFL Media’s ‘Team of the Week’, following another strong performance in Carlton’s eight-point loss to Melbourne on Sunday.
While going up against reigning All-Australian ruckman Max Gawn, the 28-year-old booted one goal and managed 18 disposals (11 contested) to see him return to the best 22 as a follower, alongside captain Marc Murphy and Fremantle skipper Nat Fyfe.
Murphy’s inclusion in this week’s Round 16 line-up came after he amassed 35 disposals and booted two goals in the match against the Demons. His on-field display at the MCG on Sunday was held in high regard by senior coaches Brendon Bolton and Simon Goodwin, with the 29-year-old afforded nine votes for the 2017 Shadforth Financial Group AFLCA Champion Player of the Year Award.
While Kreuzer also received one vote after the match, Carlton youngster Charlie Curnow tallied five for his performance which earned him the Round 16 NAB AFL Rising Star nomination.
