Sam Docherty was everywhere on Saturday. The reigning John Nicholls Medallist collected a career-high 39 disposals across half-back, and made them count with 34 of them effective - another career-high. He was the Blues' chief architect, dictating the play from defence to also finish with a game-high 616m gained.

Kade Simpson
Career-high 25 kicks

Kade Simpson was back to his brilliant best against Sydney, collecting a career-high 25 kicks. Among them was a trademark goal on the run from 50m in the second term. The 32-year-old's use of the footy was remarkable, as indicated by a disposal efficiency of 94 per cent.

Matthew Wright
Game-high 9 score involvements

Matthew Wright's match-defining burst was something special. Between the midway points of the second and third quarters, the clever small forward booted an equal career-high four goals to hand the Blues what proved to be an unassailable lead. His game-high nine score involvements proved he did even more damage than his four majors suggested.

Levi Casboult
Game-high 3 contested marks

Levi Casboult's hands were like magnets in what was another impressive performance from the Blues' big man. He was an imposing figure inside 50, taking a game-high three contested marks, two of which resulted in goals.

Alex Silvagni
Game-high 7 one-percenters

Alex Silvagni was one of the biggest talking points to come out of Saturday's win. In his club debut, the former Docker blanketed Lance Franklin, keeping the Sydney superstar to just one goal (not that he could have done anything about that goal, too). He willed himself at every contest to finish with a game-high seven one-percenters - many of those coming in the form of crucial spoils.
