The Carlton Football Club and Hyundai Motor Company Australia are giving you the chance to support the Children’s Cancer Centre Foundation, Melbourne while enjoying one of the 2010 season’s AFL blockbuster matches at the MCG, this Saturday, April 10th.

The Carlton match against traditional rival Essendon at the MCG this Saturday night is your chance to continue to support the work of the Children’s Cancer Centre Foundation and help fight childhood cancer.

In a major fundraiser for the Steven Walter Foundation (SWF), volunteer collectors will join an expected crowd of 80,000 fans raising funds to support much needed childhood cancer research.

The Children’s Cancer Centre Foundation Melbourne work closely with SWF, and are resolutely focussed on increasing survival rates for children with cancer, a task simply not possible without public support through fundraising.

With one in four children diagnosed with cancer succumbing to the disease, it is imperative research and funding be supported to ensure the goal of 100% survival can be a reality and not just a dream.

“We created the Steven Walter Foundation after our son Steven lost his eight-year battle with cancer. It was Steven’s last wish that one day no other kid would have to go through what he had endured”, said Susan Walter.

As part of the fundraising activities around the match, Hyundai, Carlton’s joint major sponsor, will donate $1000 per goal scored by the Blues during the game. Supporters can also make a difference by making a donation with volunteers located on the concourse before the game.

“Without the support of the Carlton Football Club and the players, and of course our corporate sponsors Hyundai, this day could not happen, and our vision to uphold Steven’s dream would not be possible,” said Susan Walter.

“We are delighted that Hyundai and Carlton are fully supporting our fundraising activities and look forward to the support of the big crowd expected to attend the MCG on Saturday night,” Susan added.
