Carlton has completed a trade that will see Tom Bell and the Blues’ third round draft pick (pick 41) go to the Lions, in exchange for Brisbane’s second and fourth round draft picks (picks 21 and 60).

It means Carlton now holds the first two selections in the second round of the AFL National Draft.

Bell departs Carlton after 51 games in the navy blue. He was recruited to the club with pick 14 in the 2011 Rookie Draft and the following year went on to be named Carlton’s best first year player.

Carlton’s General Manager of List Management and Strategy Stephen Silvagni has thanked Bell for his service.

“Post season Tom made the football club aware that he would like to return home to Queensland to be closer to his family,” Silvagni said.

“Although he is a contracted player, we saw an opportunity to work with Brisbane to facilitate a trade that could benefit both parties, and we’re really pleased with the outcome.

“We wish Tom all the best for the future as he returns home.”

Carlton’s 2015 draft picks (as at 10:30am Monday) now include: 1, 20, 21, 59, 60, 77, 95, 113.
