Carlton Media selects its top-five player stats from the Blues' eight-point loss to Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday:

Charlie Curnow
Game-high 10 score involvements

It's amazing to think that a 20-year-old key forward, in just his 20th game, could be involved in almost half of his side's scoring chains. That was the reality for Charlie Curnow, who lived up to his billing as one of the league's hottest young talents with an emphatic performance. Among his game-high 10 score involvements were two majors, while he also racked up 19 disposals and 10 marks (four contested).

Kade Simpson
Game-high 614m gained

There's no end in sight for the Blues' 33-year-old veteran. With two players down and the Blues' legs tiring in the dying stages, Kade Simpson simply didn't stop, recording a whopping 23 disposals in the second half. He made them count, too, registering a game-high 614m gained to finish as the most effective player on the ground for moving the ball forward.

Levi Casboult
Game-high 6 contested marks

Is there a safer pair hands in the league than those of the Blues' big man? Once again, Levi Casboult was the No.1 contested marker on the ground, finishing with six. He's now moved into equal first in the league for total contested marks (38) alongside Port Adelaide's Charlie Dixon.

Sam Petrevski-Seton
Equal game-high 9 tackles

After a week off, young midfielder Sam Petrevski-Seton regained his zip and manic pressure against Melbourne. The 19-year-old made his presence felt, recording an equal game-high nine tackles without giving away any frees. While the result didn't go the Blues' way, they could be proud of having 10 more tackles than their opponents.

Zac Fisher
Equal game-high 25 pressure acts

Zac Fisher topped the pressure acts for the second time this season - a testament to his hard work off the ball. While he managed just 10 disposals, the first-year midfielder's ability to impact Melbourne's disposals with his pressure was commendable.
