Carlton Media selects its top-five player stats from the Blues' 17-point loss to North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium:
Bryce Gibbs
Game-high 11 score involvements
Bryce Gibbs has to be a lock for three Brownlow votes, recording 38 disposals, six tackles and three goals in a devastating performance. The midfielder was involved in a game-high 11 scoring chains and was the key driver behind the Blues' 47-point turnaround.
Matthew Kreuzer
Career-high 46 hitouts
Todd Goldstein was ranked the No.1 ruckman in the AFL player ratings heading into Sunday's match, but had his colours lowered by Matthew Kreuzer. The Blues' barometer continued his rich vein of form with a career-high 46 hitouts (29 to advantage), having a big say in Carlton winning the clearances 46-42. The 28-year-old is undeniably in career-best form.
Sam Docherty
Game-high 875m gained
No Carlton player had surpassed 700m gained in a game this season, but that all changed with Sam Docherty on Sunday. The rebounding defender moved forward signifcantly better than anyone else, gaining precious territory. His most damaging passage came early in the final term, when he ran 10m and goaled from 55m to gain 65m and put the Blues in front.
Ed Curnow
Game-high 17 contested possessions
A stat so often dominated by Patrick Cripps, this time it was Ed Curnow who came out on top for contested possessions with a game-high 17 - an equal career-high. His attack on the footy was relentless from start to finish.
Patrick Cripps
Game-high 11 clearances
The Blues were ranked 17th for clearances to North Melbourne's eighth heading into the match, but won the stat on thr back of another Patrick Cripps masterclass. The clearance specialist finished with a game-high 11, six higher than teammates Bryce Gibbs, Ed Curnow and Matthew Kreuzer. His 78 per cent disposal efficiency was also commendable given half of his possessions were contested.
