Carlton’s clash against GWS this Sunday will forever be remembered by much-loved ruckman Matthew Kreuzer, as he prepares to add another accolade to an already impressive career at the Blues.
The fan-favourite will pull on his No.8 guernsey for the 150th time, a significant milestone for any AFL player.
Standing at 200cm tall, Kreuzer arrived at Ikon Park after being picked by the Blues at No.1 in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft, and the Carlton faithful didn’t have to wait long to see what the recruiters were desperate to call their own.
The ruck prodigy debuted in Round 3, 2008 against Essendon, making his mark with his first senior kick - a ruckman’s goal. In an overall performance that gave Bluebaggers something to cheer about, the youngster collected 16 disposals, eight contested possessions and 12 hit-outs.

Nine years on, and despite being in career-best form, the 28-year old remains modest by nature when looking back at his celebrated career.
“It feels great to play 150 games for Carlton. It’s nice to finally get there, but at the end of the day I will treat this Sunday as just another game,” Kreuzer said.
Midfield coach Tim Clarke was happy to laud the achievements of the clubman.
“Kreuz is a heart and soul player and leads the way week in week out with his courage and ability to endure through any situation. All the players love playing with him and what he brings to Carlton,” Clarke said.
“Not only is he dedicated to his ruck craft and training, but the attention to detail he has shown with injury management and prevention has been first class over the last 18 months.
“He has shown great resilience over his 149-game career to date, facing a number of setbacks keeping him out of both games and training.
