TRADITIONAL afternoon footy awaits Carlton next season as the Blues receive a family-friendly draw in 2019.
Featuring in a combination of Saturday and Sunday afternoon clashes, the fixture will see Carlton play home games against arch-rivals Richmond and Collingwood at the home of football – the MCG.
The Blues’ match against the Tigers will once again kick off the 2019 Toyota AFL Premiership Season, scheduled for Thursday 21 March. This match will mark the 12th consecutive year the traditional opponents have battled it out in the opening round under lights at the ‘G.
Seven rounds later the Blues and Pies will play for the tenth Richard Pratt Cup. An important match on Carlton’s calendar, the Round 8 clash will raise funds for prostate cancer in memory of former Carlton president Richard Pratt, who lost his battle against the disease in 2009.
In addition to its matches against the Tigers and the Pies, Carlton will play home games against Melbourne, Adelaide and St Kilda at the MCG, while also lining up against the Swans, Kangaroos, Lions, Bulldogs, Suns and Eagles at Marvel Stadium.

The Blues will look to host its fourth annual Carlton Respects match at one of its prominent home games, with the Club committed to promoting gender equality for the prevention of violence against women.
Members and supporters across the country will get to watch the Blues in action with six interstate games scheduled for 2019. Carlton will play both Sydney and GWS on the NSW teams' home turf, while also facing Port at Adelaide Oval, Hawthorn in Tasmania, Gold Coast in Queensland and Fremantle at Optus Stadium.

CEO Cain Liddle welcomed the Blues’ 2019 fixture after the AFL unveiled the details on Thursday.
“Looking at our fixture for next season, I’m pleased we’ve received a balance of Saturday and Sunday afternoon matches. They’re traditional-footy timeslots which are renowned for being family friendly, so it’s a positive result for the Club and our members and supporters,” Liddle said.
“Kicking off the season against the Tigers is a real privilege as the match always attracts a bumper crowd and reaches a large national TV audience, so we’re grateful to the AFL for once again giving us this opportunity. After renewing our gate-share agreement last year, both clubs are committed to growing and maintaining this fixture – which is a strong drawcard for our stakeholders.
“Securing a home game against Collingwood is always really important for our football club as we continue to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer via the Richard Pratt Cup, while we’ll look to lock in our annual Carlton Respects match at one of our prominent home games.
“Home clashes at the MCG against Melbourne, Adelaide and St Kilda will draw large crowd numbers as all three sides boast loyal supporter bases, and as a tenant club of Marvel Stadium, our six games at Docklands will provide the Club with a strong financial return.
“With six games spread across different stadiums throughout the country, opportunity exists for our strong interstate following to see the Blues in action in season 2019.”
