THE AFLW’s official trade period has begun!

Starting on Wednesday 23 May and closing on Monday 4 June, the 13-day window allows clubs to re-sign existing players, while also trading players with other clubs.

Eight of the 10 AFLW clubs will gather at AFL House to mark the first day of the NAB AFL Women’s Trade Facilitation Day.

With Geelong and North Melbourne entering the competition next year, before Richmond, St Kilda, West Coast and the Suns make it a 14-team competition in 2020, recruiting and securing talent will be vitally important heading into the third AFLW season.

Last year the Blues were active during the trade period, landing the services of Nicola Stevens from Collingwood and Tayla Harris from Brisbane.

Harris came third in Carlton’s AFLW Best and Fairest this year, one point behind joint winners Katie Loynes and Breann Moody, while the key forward also made the All Australian team and won ‘Mark of the Year’.

Yesterday the AFL also announced this year’s official AFLW draft order, with Carlton securing the No. 3 pick.
