CARLTON is breathing a sigh of relief with young defender Jacob Weitering avoiding major injury following a final-quarter collision with Gold Coast captain Steven May.
Weitering bravely flew back with the flight of the ball and was crunched by the oncoming May.
The 20-year-old former number one draft pick gingerly got to his feet and was helped from the field, but Blues coach Brendon Bolton confirmed post-match there was no serious injury.
"I haven't got an assessment as of yet, but I think it's corked (quad)," Bolton said.
It cut short an excellent outing from Weitering, whose 15 disposals and five marks told only part of his influence on the match.
Carlton will remain on the Gold Coast for a couple of days following its breakthrough win over the Suns.
