AFTER missing the first JLT Community Series hit-out at Ikon Park, Jacob Weitering and Sam Petrevski-Seton return to the Blues’ line up for the clash against Hawthorn on Saturday night in Launceston.

Head of Football Andrew McKay said the pair were “up and about” heading into the Club’s final JLT Series game before the Round 1 season opener at the MCG.

“Jacob Weitering obviously didn’t play as he woke up with a stiff neck that morning. That’s fine now so he’ll be available and has been named for the JLT 2 game against the Hawks,” McKay said. 

“Samo Petrevski-Seton was in the same boat and missed JLT 1. He (suffered) a cork during the week with his quad, but he’ll be up and about this weekend and is right to go." 

Exciting recruit Jarrod Garlett will miss this weekend’s game with a sore shoulder with the Club taking a cautious approach to the injury, but is expected to be available for Round 1 selection.

“Against St Kilda last Wednesday night, Jarrod got a knock to the shoulder in a tackle. We’re going to treat that injury conservatively and he’ll have a spell this weekend but it’s looking positive for his return for Round 1,” he said. 

Rising defender Tom Williamson and former Cat Darcy Lang are also expected to be in line for selection for the season opener against the reigning premiers when the Blues faces the Tigers on Thursday 23 March. 

“Tommy Williamson missed the first JLT game with a slight stiff back issue. We said we were going to investigate it and we did that. It showed up a really minor stress reaction of his back,” McKay said. 

“We think he’ll only be out for a couple of weeks so he’ll be pushing for Round 1 selection which will be great.

“Darcy Lang has had the ankle niggle over the past couple of weeks and he is now building up his loads really well. He’s back into training now too so he’ll be pushing for Round 1 selection which we’re looking forward to.”
