DARCY Lang and Tom Williamson are expected to be available for selection for Carlton’s Round 2 match against the Gold Coast.
The pair didn’t feature in any of the Blues’ JLT Community Series and lost a race against the clock to be fit for Thursday night’s season opener.
“Darcy is coming back from that ankle sprain, but we’re looking forward to seeing him the following week,” Head of Football Andrew McKay said.
“Tom Williamson’s had a really mild stress reaction of the lower back. It was a race against time, but he hasn’t been able to come up. We’re looking forward to Tom re-commencing with us the next week.”
New Blues Matthew Lobbe and Matt Shaw won’t lace up for the Northern Blues in their practice match against Richmond tomorrow, having sustained injuries in recent VFL practice matches.
“Matthew Lobbe copped a cork in the quad a week or so ago and aggravated that cork at training last week. We’re going to rest him this week, but he’ll be available for selection for Round 2,” McKay said.
“Matt Shaw had a very mild hamstring strain. He’s back at training, but he won’t get up for Round 1. We’re expecting him to be fine for Round 2.”
Meanwhile, livewire Jarrod Pickett underwent surgery after fracturing his scaphoid during his training last week.
The 22-year-old is expected to miss 12 weeks.
