Carlton will still be reeling from its 13-point loss to St Kilda when it takes on the Bombers this Sunday at the MCG.
After the frustration of missed opportunities, the Blues will be out in force to show its opposition they are not a side to be underestimated.
The Bombers will be eager to notch their fifth win of the season after falling 23-points short to the in-form Tigers on Saturday.
The record between these traditional opponents remains remarkably even, with Carlton maintaining bragging rights with seven more wins over the 247 meetings.
The Blues are set to meet their match in the centre on Sunday, when they face a formidable Essendon midfield Bombers.
While Essendon just outrank the Blues in clearances after 10 rounds, Carlton should have the advantage in the air with the likes of Matthew Kreuzer and Harry McKay.
Both sides will be gearing up for what is set to be an old-fashioned one-on-one battle inside the Blues’ forward 50. Charlie Curnow will have to fend off Essendon gun Michael Hurley if he is to continue his return to form.
