TAKE a look at these lesser-known facts ahead of tonight's clash with Gold Coast at Metricon Stadium:
- Carlton holds a slender 5-4 lead against Gold Coast since the Suns’ inception in 2011. The Blues lead the all-time score by 119 points - the same margin as the first game.
- Both sides will have three players each who played in Gold Coast’s inaugural game in 2011. Ed Curnow, Marc Murphy and Kade Simpson played for the Blues, while Jarrod Harbrow, Michael Rischitelli and David Swallow are there for the Suns. Current Carlton development coach Josh Fraser also featured for Gold Coast.
- Marc Murphy registered three Brownlow votes in the first game between the two sides. His average of 28.7 disposals is his best against any opposition.
- After the injuries to Liam Jones and Zac Fisher, Sam Petrevski-Seton now has the longest active consecutive game streak of any Blue. Saturday night will be his 26th straight game.
- Carlton has had to make 31 forced changes throughout the course of the year - the most in the AFL. The competition average sits at 21.
- Gold Coast’s Nick Holman will be the only player who has represented both clubs to play on Saturday night. Jarrod Garlett, Matthew Shaw and former Blue Daniel Gorringe all started at the Suns before finding their way to Carlton.
- Ed Curnow’s 10 tackles is the equal-most of any Blue against the Suns — he’s achieved the feat twice. Additionally, 38 disposals in Round 2 is the second-most of any Carlton player against the Suns, behind only Bryce Gibbs’ 43 last year.
- Patrick Cripps has the most contested possessions and clearances after 76 games in the history of the competition. He only needs 49 more contested possessions to break his season-high tally of 354 (set in 2016).
- In total, there will be 14 players out of the 44 who were taken in the top 10 of their national drafts. Nine are at Carlton, while five are at the Suns: that isn’t including Lachie Weller, who Gold Coast traded pick No.2 for last season.
