CARLTON trails Adelaide by 49 points at half-time in its season-ending clash at Etihad Stadium.
Despite matching the Crows for inside 50s (28 apiece), the Blues have been far less efficient in attack, kicking just five majors to Adelaide’s 13.
The score at half-time is Carlton 5.5 (35) to Adelaide 13.6 (84).
FIRST QUARTER
It was a slow start for the Blues, with missed goal opportunities costing them dearly in the opening term.
Aaron Mullet put through Carlton’s only major with an impressive kick on the run from outside 50m.
Jacob Weitering was impressive in the backline with two tackles, two one-percenters, four contested possessions and eight disposals (at 75 percent efficiency).
Patrick Cripps had a game-high five clearances and five contested possessions.
It wasn’t enough to quell the Crows’ influence, who kicked five goals to the Blues’ one.
The score at quarter-time was Carlton 1.4 (10) to Adelaide 5.4 (34).
SECOND QUARTER
Harry McKay had the response for Carlton with two goals in a row after the Crows opened the second term with three unanswered majors.
Unfortunately, the second quarter continued in a similar manner to the first, with the visitors dominating the game.
Cripps was busy, amassing game-high disposals (18) and contested possessions (12) in the first half.
He needs 10 more contested possessions to break Patrick Dangerfield's League record (385) for a home-and-away season.
Let’s hope the Blues can turn this around after the main break.
