Parkin, who is a Life Member of both the Carlton and Hawthorn Football Clubs, was inducted into the Australian Football Club Hall of Fame in 2002.

The 211-gamer spent 13 years playing at the Hawks and captained them to their second premiership in 1971.

Parkin turned his sights to coaching thereafter, helming Hawthorn from 1977 to 1980 and to a premiership in 1978. He then pursued his coaching career at Carlton where he led the Blues to premierships in 1981, 1982 and 1995.

The match starts from 1.10pm on Sunday at Etihad Stadum.
