CARLTON’S inaugural father-daughter prospect, Abbie McKay, will officially pull on the Old Dark Navy Blue for the first time this weekend.
The eldest daughter of 1995 premiership player and outgoing Head of Football Andrew McKay, Abbie has been named in the Club’s Round 16 VFLW team.
The 17-year-old recently represented Vic Metro in the under-18 national championships on the Gold Coast and has been invited to participate in the upcoming AFLW draft combine in October. She’ll also play in next Friday’s under-18 exhibition match at Adelaide Oval showcasing the country’s best young talent.
Named as the 23rd player, McKay is one of three inclusions to the squad to face Essendon at Windy Hill on Saturday afternoon.
Captain Kristi Harvey and Jess Malouf also make their way back into the side, while AFLW-listed players Reni Hicks and Alison Downie will miss the final home-and-away game of the season.
The Blues recorded a win last week against Darebin at Bill Lawry Oval, so there’s no doubt they’ll be looking to finish their season with positive momentum.
Carlton takes on Essendon this Saturday afternoon at Windy Hill, with all the action kicking off at 3pm. Make sure you head along early and catch the Northern Blues too, with the men’s match scheduled to begin at 12pm.
