CARLTON will take on NT Thunder this Saturday in hopes of notching its first win of the season.

The Blues will run out on their home deck for the first time this season when the face the visitors at Latrobe University.  

Last time they met 

A valiant Blues outfit fell 36 points short to their Round 5 opponent last time these two sides met.

With a final score of 2.3 (15) to 8.3 (51), the Blues went down to the NT Thunder at RAMS Arena.

Breann Moody was one of Carlton’s best players on the day, working hard in the ruck to give her side the advantage around stoppages. 

Player to watch: Madison Prespakis 

The Blues will welcome a big name into the side this week as Madison Prespakis prepares to line up against the Thunder. 

Prespakis is fresh off an outstanding AFLW debut season that saw her finish with the 2019 Rising Star award and joint club best and fairest award.

Her speed and pressure through the midfield should add some flair as the Blues attempt to boost their scoreboard impact.

Opposition to watch: Janet Baird

Baird is a Northern Territory Under 18 representative and has just come off a stellar season for the Palmerston Magpies in the Northern Territory Football League (NTFL).

The 19-year-old became the youngest ever winner of the NTFL best and fairest award, kicking 14 goals from 13 games.

She has picked up where she left off for the NT Thunder, averaging 8.7 disposals to go along with her two goals this season. 

Shannon’s say:

“I think that they’ll (NT Thunder) be fast and I think they’ll have a couple of inclusions of AFLW girls.

“In saying that, I think we’ll be able to match them this weekend.

“I’ve got a lot of confidence going in and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
