The five-day training camp at Sorrento is nearing a close and captain Chris Judd said today it had been a valuable experience, both physically and mentally, as the team prepared for a big 2011.

“The bike ride from Visy Park to Sorrento was certainly a tough start to the camp and was physically demanding and also a mental challenge as we rode into the strong headwind during the 110 km ride on Monday,” Judd said after a skills training session at Sorrento Oval this morning.

“It (the ride to Sorrento) certainly set the scene for a week of hard work away from the club with training sessions combined with meetings about our playing style for the new season as well as AFL education meetings. We have also had time together relaxing and this has added to the camaraderie of the group.

“The pre-Christmas training is always tough and Justin Cordy certainly hasn’t disappointed us in planning a challenging program but we know the benefits that result from this and believe this is the start of a very exciting 2011 season for the Carlton Football Club.
