DIRECTOR of High Performance Andrew Russell is hopeful that two young Blues won’t spend too much time on the sidelines.
Charlie Curnow and David Cuningham will both spend time on the sidelines due to knee and hip injuries respectively.
Curnow, who went down early in the first quarter against Port Adelaide, sustained bone bruising to his right knee.
Russell said he expected Curnow to spend a few weeks out of action, but not much more than that.
“We saw Charlie had an issue with his knee on the weekend. Fortunately, he’s only got some low-grade bone bruising on that,” Russell said.
A welcome return is imminent for a key defender!

“It’s a pain issue — we expect that to be a couple of weeks. When that pain settles down, we’ll see him back out there.
“We hope that’s sooner rather than later.”
After an impressive pre-season and Round 1 performance, an innocuous incident at training left Cuningham with a bruised kidney.
Russell said the unfortunate circumstance was likely to see Cuningham out of action for a similar timeframe to Curnow.
“He feels 100 percent, he feels like he could play right now. He can’t play right now due to specialist advice,” he said.
“We’re waiting to hear from the specialist on how long and how many games he will miss.”
