THE Carlton Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Wayne Siekman as the Club’s AFLW and VFLW List Manager.
Siekman arrives at Ikon Park with a wealth of football knowledge and experience, stemming over the past 18 years with roles at Collingwood VFL, Vic Metro, Dandenong Stingrays and most recently as the senior coach of the Collingwood AFLW side.
The new role for Siekman will see him team up once again with Carlton senior coach Daniel Harford, after the pair worked together when Harford was an assistant coach at Collingwood during the 2018 AFLW season.
Head of Football Brad Lloyd said the club was excited to welcome a person with Siekman’s experience and knowledge.
“To have a person of Wayne’s calibre on board with our AFLW and VFLW programs with his experience within the women’s game, from grassroots level through to AFLW, will be a great asset to our program,” Lloyd said.
“Wayne has such a passion for women’s football and shares our belief in the direction we want to take both our AFLW and VFLW programs. We welcome Wayne to the Club and look forward to working with him.”
Seikman said he was excited to about the opportunity to join the Carlton Football Club.
“I am really looking forward to this new role, the Club’s AFLW and VFLW program have continued to improve year on year and I can’t wait to get started,” Siekman said.
The Club would also like to announce that 2018 AFLW Best and Fairest winner Katie Loynes will join Siekman as Carlton’s AFLW Recruiting Manager.
Loynes will continue to play in season 2020 but will take up the role off-field with a keen eye on the upcoming draft in mid-October.
As a member of the inaugural Carlton AFLW side and with the role of vice-captain last season, Loynes has quite the CV and will bring her football smarts to the role.
Lloyd is looking forward to having Loynes on board — both on and off the field — moving forward.
“We as a Club see great potential in Katie post her playing career and are committed to supporting her development in the football industry,” Lloyd said.
The Carlton VFLW side will kick off their 2019 campaign against the Casey Demons at Casey Fields this Sunday.
