CARLTON midfielder Zac Fisher is making waves in his third year in Navy Blue.

Fresh off his 50th AFL game, the speedy 21-year-old has shown himself to be a player for the future in Carlton’s midfield.

Fisher spoke on his journey so far and Carlton’s impressive run of form on RSN Breakfast on Tuesday morning.

“It has come a lot quicker than I once thought,” Fisher said of the milestone.

“I’m obviously very grateful to Bolts for allowing me to play games in my first couple of years.”

Fisher has only missed seven games since his debut in Round 4 of 2017, flying to 50 games alongside fellow 2016 draftee Sam Petrevski-Seton.

“I was obviously very light coming into the AFL system and I didn’t really know what to expect,” he said.

“I had played at WAFL level and there were some pretty big bodies there, but the speed and the fitness of AFL level is something that I guess you can never prepare for.”

The young Blue is relishing in the Blues’ impressive run of form over the last month, rotating his time between midfield and up forward to play a critical role in the three wins.

Fisher attributes the turnaround in form to a growth in on-field confidence, saying the game plan has remained much the same.

“Structurally, we’ve kept the game plan the same,” he said.

“We’ve played with a lot more freedom and [with] our ball movement I think we’ve been able to play freely.”

“[That] is allowing us to defend in our front half.”

The Blues will come up against the Suns for the second time this season at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

While this weekend’s opponent has been on the receiving end of two convincing defeats to Richmond and Adelaide, Fisher is not willing to underestimate Gold Coast heading into the clash.

“I think we come into every game thinking that they’re winnable games. But it’s going to be a process again this week, they beat us by under a goal last time,” he said.

“We’re going to prepare well this week and hit them head on.”
