WE knew it was going to be hard work.
Monday was big. And today, we didn’t slow down.
I said yesterday that we knew what was coming, but that doesn’t make it any easier. It was another demanding day, especially when you have to back up a four-hour session from the day before.
Things kicked off with a beach circuit. From boxing to ropes to grappling in the sand and plenty more, the hard work didn’t stop.
And it won’t stop.
I was partnered with Will Setterfield, someone I’m glad will be my teammate in 2019 and not on the other side like he was today. Even though he’s coming back from injury, he has fit into the group really well and he hates being beaten – I felt that first-hand today.

A quick bite to eat was followed by a gym session in the afternoon.
It might be easy to go through the motions in these kinds of sessions, but we’ve made it a real focus to make the most out of everything. You only get out what you put in, so we’re putting in as much as we possibly can.
Players are starting to stand up and make their voices heard. While it’s an amazing experience to play with those guys I mentioned yesterday that have been here for a long time, it can’t always be left to them. We can’t leave too much to too few.
It’s why it’s so important for us younger guys to take control a bit more.
I think we saw that today with Simmo’s voice at the beach: Samo was close behind him the whole time, driving standards and making sure everyone was on their game.
The chance to train in different environments has been really good for the group, even at this early stage. All those things that were spoken about leading into the camp were able to happen: coming out of our shells, bonding as a group and fighting until the end.
They are all things we want to be known for. We want to build that resilience, train those good habits on and off the field and fight for the jumper – that’s what will get us places.
Tomorrow is our open session at Maroochydore, with things kicking off from 9am. We’d love to see as many of our local Bluebaggers there as possible!
