LATE last year, Carlton’s 11 newest players were awarded their guernseys as they prepare for life as Blues.
Moving on to the No.40 guernsey, we look at the players who have made the guernsey what it is, and what's to come for the incumbent.

Famous faces
Of the 321 games played in the No.40 guernsey, nearly half were played by one man: Michael Jamison.
Between 2007 and 2016, Jamison played exactly 150 games in the navy blue. Over his career, he was a dependable full back, and emerged as one of the most reliable in the competition between 2011 and 2013.

Yep, it's him, and he's joined by old teammate Brad Fisher in a special episode of Blues Banter.#BoundByBlue pic.twitter.com/WcA0XOZs8C
He featured in Carlton’s leadership group four times and if not for injury, was considered an All Australian chance in 2011.
Scott Howell (1981) is the solitary premiership player in the jumper: he became the first third-generation premiership player in competition history, after grandfather Jack Senior (1918, South Melbourne) and father Jack (1947, Carlton).
While 254 of his games came in a different jumper, Hall of Famer Brett Ratten started out his career in the No.40 guernsey for a single game back in 1990.

New custodian
Hoping to follow in the footsteps of the jumper’s games record holder, Tomas Bugg arrived at Carlton via the rookie draft — 12 years after Jamison did the same thing.
Bugg has proved his wares at AFL level already, having played 96 games already over the past seven seasons. He initially started at GWS, before making his way to Melbourne prior to the 2016 season.

The versatile Bugg has just about played in every role at senior level, most recently embracing the role as a pressure forward. He kicked four goals in Melbourne’s Round 3 triumph over North Melbourne early in 2018.
His competitive edge and hunger for the contest will be the hallmarks of his game as he aims to make his mark at Carlton.
