“WE are just so grateful.”
With 64,000 members now behind Carlton, CEO Cain Liddle heralded the loyalty of supporters in the wake of the record-breaking achievement.
Liddle thanked supporters for their commitment to the club when speaking to 3AW on Saturday ahead of Carlton’s victory over Adelaide.
“It’s an extraordinary effort by our members this year. We won two games last year and we signed 56,000 members,” Liddle said.
“I think most people at that point would be thinking, ‘Gee, if you could sign 56,000 again you’ve done a good job.’”
But with days left until the close of membership sales for 2019, that number has been far exceeded.
Having broken its membership record before the commencement of the AFL season, the Club announced 64,000 members had signed up to be Bound By Blue last Friday.

“Our members just couldn’t have been more supportive of our team and we hit 64,000 members – that’s the biggest in Carlton’s 155-year history,” he said.
The membership milestone coincides with strong crowd attendance in 2019, with Carlton currently sitting fifth in the competition for home attendance.
Carlton is the only side in the top five to sit outside the eight, preceded only by Collingwood, West Coast, Richmond and Essendon.
“The top three teams on that ladder filled the top three positions on the ladder last year and we ran eighteenth,” he said of attendance numbers.
“Anyone who says that Carlton supporters aren’t loyal and supportive, I think you only need to look at some of those data points to see the unbelievable support we’ve got from our members and supporters this year.”
