CARLTON midfielder Marc Murphy suffered fractured ribs during Sunday’s clash with GWS at Giants Stadium. 

Murphy was involved in a collision early in the first quarter and did not take any further part in the game. 

He was taken to hospital in Sydney, where he underwent scans overnight that confirmed the injury to the 31-year-old. 

Murphy is expected to be sidelined for the next few weeks.
