AFTER a busy off-season, there’s now four Harrys at IKON Park.

Of course, there’s McKay, the established gun forward. There are O’Farrell and Charleson, the two recruits who have been Blues for nearly a month now.

But the one turning heads is Harry Lemmey, who’s now heading into his third pre-season that has caught the eye of plenty senior teammates - plus the AFL Senior Coach.

For Lemmey, who has been waiting in the wings and developing under McKay (“he’s been really good for me, having me under his wing”) and Charlie Curnow, the hunger is evident. And that has defined his pre-season to date, starting with the break following the completion of the previous campaign.

“We had a good little group with Orazio Fantasia, Adam Saad, Alex Cincotta and Hudson O’Keeffe: we all came together at the start of the off-season after the exit interviews and went to work straight away, with a few goals in mind,” Lemmey told Carlton Media.

“For me, that was my speed and power. Nailing my gym sessions, getting the work done on the track. It’s a good little crew there, and really utilising the time to take the next step up which I’m hoping to do this year.”

Now that pre-season is well and truly in the swing of things, Lemmey has been part of a core group of youngsters which has been credited with raising standards from the outset - joining the likes of fellow 2022 draftees Ollie Hollands, Lachie Cowan and Jaxon Binns.

It’s been Lemmey’s drive to compete against the best that is fuelling him, and there are a pair of key forwards plus the reigning All-Australian full-back that he’s making a point to both learn from and test himself against.

“It’s to continue to go after Harry and Charlie, they’re the best two key forwards in the comp. It’s to continue to learn off those boys.

“Then, it’s to go after ‘Weiters’ in the pre-season. It’s picking him every single time, every opportunity I have, because that’ll give me more exposure at AFL level.

“If you go up against the best every week, it’s going to put you in good stead hopefully for the future.”
