DARCY Vescio has been named as a finalist for the 2024 AFLW Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award.
This prestigious award is presented to the AFLW player who best exemplifies the values of the late Melbourne champion and former Demons' president, Jim Stynes.
This is the first time Vescio has received a nomination for the award and the first time it will be separately presented to both AFL and AFLW players.
Vescio—an inaugural AFLW player and proud Bluebagger—has established themselves as a passionate advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and the growth of AFLW, serving as an inspiring role model within the community.
In addition to their advocacy, the 31-year-old dedicates time to volunteering with the Darebin Falcons and mentoring young people.
Vescio embodies the community spirit, consistently speaking out against injustice and leveraging their platform to drive positive change.
The 2024 AFLW Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award winner will be revealed at the W Awards on 25 November.
