PROSPECTIVE draftees Ben and Lucas Camporeale have today formally nominated to join Carlton as father-son selections in this year’s Telstra AFL Draft.

Sons of Carlton Hall of Famer Scott, the twins have each made the decision nominate their boyhood club, as official paperwork was lodged today ahead of the 31 October deadline.

The 18-year-olds - who played their club football for Glenelg - are no strangers to IKON Park, having been part of the Carlton Academy for the past three years.

Ben, a talented inside midfielder, had an outstanding 2024 season by claiming South Australia’s MVP award as well as All-Australian honours at this year’s National Championships, while taking out the McCallum-Tomkins Medal (SANFL Under 18’s Best and Fairest), in a four-way tie, despite playing just six games.

Lucas has also had a strong year, playing more as an outside midfielder this season, taking out the minor premiership with Glenelg and with his performances seeing him receive an invite to the national draft combine. A left footer in contrast to his brother, Lucas’s ability to cover the ground as a wingman has seen him produce eye-catching games.

The record holder in the Navy Blue No.16 guernsey, Scott Camporeale was drafted to Carlton with pick No.15 in the 1994 National Draft. Making his debut against Collingwood in Round 1 of 1995, he went on to play 233 games for the Blues, including the 1995 premiership.

During his time at IKON Park, Scott won the Best First Year player award, a Best and Fairest as well as named as an All Australian. In 2016, he was inducted into the Carlton Hall of Fame.

The Telstra AFL National Draft will be held on Wednesday 20 November and Thursday 21 November at Marvel Stadium, with the rookie draft to take place on Friday 22 November.
