ANOTHER game, another week of the Blues’ on-ball brigade firing.

Five Carlton players received votes in the AFLCA AFLW Champion Player of the Year award for the impressive win over Geelong.

There was a familiar trend to the vote getters, kicking off with Maddy Guerin, who unsurprisingly polled a perfect 10 for her comprehensive performance.

It was a career-best showing from Guerin, who accumulated 31 disposals - eclipsing her previous best of 19 in 2022 - as well as registering eight clearances and a first-quarter goal.

She laid the foundation from a resounding midfield showing from the Blues, but she certainly wasn’t alone.

The performances of Abbie McKay, Keeley Sherar and Mimi Hill couldn’t be split by the coaches, with all three each receiving six votes.

McKay and Hill each had over 30 disposals as well as registering a goal, while Sherar continued her own impressive start to the season with 24 disposals and five tackles.

It marked the second consecutive week that all four midfielders received votes after all polling in the one-point win over Gold Coast in Week 2. The six votes for McKay also sees the co-vice captain in the top five of the award’s leaderboard, five votes behind leader Ash Riddell.

Rounding out the votes from a Carlton perspective was ruck Jess Good, who received a solitary vote for her efforts against the Cats.

Good - who has enjoyed a strong start to the campaign in 2024 - was central to the Blues’ midfield dominance, setting the tone with 11 disposals and 25 hitouts in the 24-point win.
