THE Carlton Football Club has appointed Rob Inness as its new Head of High Performance from next season.

Inness will arrive at IKON Park from Sydney, where he is held in high regard as the Swans’ Head of Athletic Performance.

Inness will bring with him 12 years of experience in AFL high performance, that has seen him play an integral role in reaching four Grand Finals, three premierships and finals in each of the last eight seasons.

During his four years at the Swans, Inness has played a leading hand in ensuring the side was prepared at an elite level, which included a Grand Final appearance in 2022, as well as a minor premiership in 2024.

Having entered the industry as Richmond’s VFL Performance Manager in 2013, he was then promoted to become Strength and Rehabilitation Coach at Punt Road ahead of the 2017 season, playing a leading hand in the Tigers’ program during a period that produced three premierships in four seasons.

Carlton General Manager of Football Brad Lloyd said it was pleasing to appoint an industry leader in Inness to direct the Club’s high-performance program beyond this season.

“Rob’s resume speaks for itself in terms of the results he has been able to consistently produce in the high-performance space for over a decade now,” Lloyd said.

“Rob has been an integral part of programs that have produced sustained consistency year on year, and he will bring that wealth of experience to our football club.

“There are few in the AFL who are as highly credentialed and held in the regard that Rob is, so we are delighted he has committed to come to Carlton and be part of what we are looking to build on in the coming years.”

Inness will fulfil his duties with the Sydney Swans for the remainder of the 2024 season, before commencing his role at IKON Park.
