THE Carlton Football Club is excited to announce that inaugural player Darcy Vescio will remain at Carlton until at least the end of 2026.

A one-club player, Vescio is an inaugural member of the Blues, starting their journey back in 2016 when they were announced as a marquee player for Carlton after the announcement of the competition’s inception.

Playing every game in season eight, Vescio was dominant in the team's Round 1 win against the Gold Coast Suns, kicked three goals while featured in the Blues’ best multiple times across the season.

“Being a one-club player is something I am very proud of, and I am thrilled to sign on with the Blues,” Vescio said.

“I have so much love for this Club, the supporters, coaches and especially my teammates. We truly are such a connected group.

“Throughout my time here, I have seen a lot of changes across our program, and I am excited by the vision that the Club - led by ‘Bucky’ - is implementing.

“I can’t wait for this new era of Carlton. Bring on Round 1.”

Known for their clean hands both in the air and at ground level, and ability to create scoring opportunities out of any play, Vescio can hold their own against the competition's best.

Their game has evolved throughout their time at Carlton, featuring across the ground, with this season seeing Vescio adopt a new role on the wing.

Pushing higher up the ground, Vescio will be able to use their running ability to cover the ground and their elite forward craft and high level of football IQ to deliver the ball inside 50 as well as hitting the scoreboard.

A two-time all-Australian and a four-time leading goal kicker at IKON Park, Vescio  is a true champion of the game: they were the first person in AFLW history to reach 50 goals, and was Carlton’s first AFLW player to play 50 games.

Head of AFLW Ash Naulty said Vescio is a clear embodiment of the program Carlton is building.

“Darcy has been here since the very inception of the Carlton AFLW program and truly understands what the side has been through and where we are headed,” Naulty said.

“They are a selfless person and a team-first player. Their ability to get players around them involved in the game is an invaluable asset.

“It is great to see them sign on and show their trust in the program we are building at the Club and continually live out the values and standards we hold highly.

“They have invested an incredible amount of time in the Blues program, featuring in the leadership group throughout their time. They are hungry to see the team succeed and has been a positive driver in this.

“Darcy has worked incredibly hard over their time in the AFLW and undoubtedly deserves every accolade awarded to them.

“All of us at Carlton cannot wait to see them run out in the Navy Blue for a few more years.”
