HARRIET Cordner and Maddy Guerin will remain in the Navy Blue until 2025 and 2026 respectively, after signing contract extensions.
Cordner came to the Blues in 2023 during the AFLW Sign and Trade Period with a wealth of experience and has become a much-loved member of the Blues side.
Spending her first four AFLW seasons as an important member of Melbourne's backline, Cordner made her way to Richmond, making the All-Australian squad during her first season with the Tigers.
Playing every game during her debut season at IKON Park in 2023, Cordner’s consistency, knowledge and experience to impact at the elite level has been invaluable for the Blues’ emerging group.
Guerin joined the Blues from the Demons in 2020 and quickly became a fan favourite.
After an ACL injury kept Guerin off the field in Season 8, the 24-year-old transitioned to a coaching role last season, helping her see the game from a different perspective and increasing her knowledge of the game.
Featuring in the VFLW earlier in the year, Guerin was pivotal on her return to football amassing 17 disposals, three marks, and six clearances in her first hit out.
Head of AFLW Ash Naulty said it was pleasing to have both players commit ahead of the upcoming season.
“Both Maddy and Harriet are tough and skilful players who have shown an immense amount of resilience throughout their careers,” Naulty said.
“To see Maddy's talent, speed, and utility on display during the most recent VFLW season makes us all excited to have her get back to producing the quality we know she can for the season ahead.
“Harriet has been a great addition to our side, her professionalism, as an athlete and a leader, is highly respected by players and staff alike at the Club, both on and off the field.
“We are excited to watch Maddy and Harriet run out in the Navy Blue for a few more years.”
