Carlton has recruited Jade Halfpenny ahead of the upcoming AFLW season.

Halfpenny comes into the side for Erone Fitzpatrick who was placed on the inactive list last week.

Experienced at the highest level, Halfpenny featured in Port Adelaide's inaugural AFLW team. Playing six games across her time at the Power, Halfpenny made her debut back in 2022 against the Blues.

Standing at 175cm tall, Halfpenny plays across the field, featuring mainly as a hybrid forward during her time with Port Adelaide and inside midfield at Norwood.

Known for her strong overhead marking ability and clean fundamentals via hand and foot, Halfpenny was named as a half-forward in the SANFLW Team of the Year in 2024.

Halfpenny featured in every Norwood match she was available for, averaging 17 disposals, four tackles and three clearances in 2024.

After a dominant performance in the SANFLW Grand Final, she was deservingly included in the votes for best on ground.

Halfpenny was rewarded for her fantastic season, taking out Norwood’s best-and-fairest award.

A cross-code athlete, she starred as a talented basketball player alongside Jess Good, now reuniting with the Carlton ruck at IKON Park.

Halfpenny also joins fellow teammate Yasmin Duursma, who was traded to the Blues from the Power in 2023.

Head of AFLW Ash Naulty said Halfpenny is a talented athlete with a strong work ethic.

“Jade has shown high-level football skills and determination throughout the SANFLW season, and we believe the attributes she brings will complement the team,” Naulty said.

“Already with experience at AFLW level, she brings a high football IQ and understanding of the professional standards, which is something we hold highly at Carlton.

“We are excited to welcome her down to IKON Park and can't wait to see what she can produce this season in the Navy Blue.
