A BIG outing for the skipper.
In another dominant outing, Patrick Cripps polled 10 votes for the Blues’ Round 16 win over the Tigers, where the captain well and truly stood tall.
Gathering over 40 disposals for the second week in a row, Cripps also delivered 17 contested possessions, 14 clearances and eight score involvements, as well as a handy third-quarter goal.
The 29-year-old now sits fifth on the AFLCA leaderboard with 68 votes, whilst teammate Sam Walsh sits two spots below with 61 votes.
Walsh himself polled eight votes in the Tigers’ clash, where the co-vice captain collected 26 disposals, 11 score involvements and two goals, both of which were assisted by Cripps.
Nic Newman received six votes in a game where the defenders were challenged early.
Newman’s ability to intercept behind the ball was a key pillar of Carlton’s ball movement, as the 30-year-old finished with a game-high 14 marks and 706 metres gained.
Fellow defender Adam Saad polled two votes, as did Blake Acres, with the two playing their respective roles to a high standard.
Saad (24 disposals, eight intercept possessions, seven score involvements) was instrumental across half back, cutting off Richmond’s run and able to launch forward with ease.
Acres (33 disposals, eight score involvements) used his run to impact at both ends of the ground, gaining 557 metres.
Rounding out the votes was Elijah Hollands, who received one vote.
Debuting the long sleeves on a wet MCG, Hollands put together another comprehensive team-first performance, picking up 20 disposals, nine score involvements and a goal.
