THIS Friday will signify the Blues' ninth AFL Carlton Respects Game, where the Club aims to shine a light on gender equality and the prevention of violence against women.

Marking the occasion will be a brand new AFL guernsey, with orange accents to showcase the international colour of harmony.

In addition to this, there will be a moment pre-game from 7:15pm AEST to honour the 64 women who tragically lost their lives in 2023, as well as the countless women and children before them.

This is depicted on ‘The Lost Petition’, a 180cm x 3570cm art instalment by Dans Bain, made up of 14 content bed sheets, listing the names of women and children who have lost their lives to male violence in Australia from 2008.

This work is over 36 metres long and proceeds to grow in length as women's and children’s lives continue to be lost to male violence.

On-field, alongside the scroll, will be numerous orange lights being held up to ‘shine a light’ on violence against women, with the crowd encouraged to be in their seats early (before 7:15pm) and join in the impactful moment.

A link to an orange background for phones is available here. It will also be shown on the scoreboard and also available in the app, with the goal to create a sea of orange lights, illuminating the MCG in the international colour of harmony.
