ALEX Cincotta has earned a new deal at IKON Park.

Cincotta’s 2024 season has shown the persistence, resilience and sheer determination that has so far typified his football journey to date.

After beginning the year in the VFL, the 27-year-old waited two months for an opportunity at AFL level and when it came, he took it.

Initially returning to the side down back, it was three weeks later - in Round 11 against the Gold Coast - that Cincotta was deployed by the coaching staff to utilise his selfless, team-first attitude further afield.

Already a reliable stopper down back, Cincotta added a valuable string to his bow, showcasing an ability to play a role in the middle of the ground that further established his willingness to do whatever was required for his football club.

That was on show during King’s Birthday Eve against Essendon, when Cincotta stepped up on the big stage and ultimately got his reward, kicking two of the Blues’ five final term goals in a 26-point win over their arch rivals.

“The way in which Alex’s football journey has unfolded, he has developed a great ability to stay ready, for whenever an opportunity comes his way,” said Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin.

“That mentality is a credit to him, and a key reason why he has earned his place in the side.

“This playing group is taking great pride in establishing a reputation of being selfless, and committing everything to their specific role in the team – Alex is a great example of that and we are pleased to see him earn another year in the Navy Blue jumper.”
