THE AFL has today announced the fixture details for Rounds 16 to 23 of the 2024 season.
With a variety of time slots, it gives the Carlton faithful an array of opportunities to come and support their beloved Blues.
After featuring in just one Sunday fixture in the first 15 rounds, the Blues with play in four Sunday afternoon games in the back half of the year (Rounds 16, 19, 22 and 23), with the first of those seeing Carlton take on Richmond at the MCG in Round 16.
A prime-time Friday night fixture awaits in Round 20, with the atmosphere set to be electric under the roof of Marvel Stadium against Port Adelaide.
The following week it is back to the MCG against the old foes Collingwood, for what shapes as yet another epic under the Saturday night lights following their Round 8 clash which drew the largest home-and-away crowd ever between the two teams.
This is part of a significant three-week stretch for the Club, which culminates in the celebration of its 160th anniversary against Hawthorn at the MCG on a Sunday afternoon. This game will see the team wear a specially designed heritage guernsey (to be released in July).
The Blues head on the road for the sixth and final time of the home-and-away season against West Coast, before the final game of the season sees them host St Kilda at Marvel Stadium in Round 24 which remains a floating fixture across the competition.
It will take a whole-of-club mentality to rise in the second half of the season, with the sea of Navy Blue already in full force this year, with an average home crowd attendance of 64,750.
Two of the Blues’ first four home games in 2024 saw crowds above 82,000, with 83,881 attending Round 1 v Richmond and 88,362 packing into the MCG to watch the thrilling clash against Collingwood. The Round 8 game was the second-highest attended game so far in 2024, behind the annual ANZAC Day clash.
Heading into the back half of the season the Blues will leave Victoria just twice in the final eight weeks, so Bluebaggers will have optimal opportunity to come and support the Blues right here in Melbourne, the home of sport.
