YOUNGSTER Jaxon Binns will make his AFL debut today, becoming Carlton player No.1239.
Binns - Carlton’s reigning VFL Best and Fairest winner - comes into the side in place of Orazio Fantasia (illness) for the Round 7 clash.
Binns, who will receive his first Navy Blue guernsey from captain and 300-gamer has been named as sub.
The 19-year-old gets his chance after over a year of consistent VFL performances for the Blues, where he was also named in the competition’s 2023 Team of the Year on the wing.
Binns has averaged over 28 disposals for the Carlton Reserves since the beginning of last year, with his lowest tally being the 19 he had on debut over 12 months ago — coincidentally, also against the Cats.
Highly regarded for his running ability and repeat efforts, Binns will join fellow 2022 AFL Draft class members Ollie Hollands and housemate Lachie Cowan in the Carlton side to take on Geelong.
