CARLTON captain Patrick Cripps has polled a perfect 10 AFLCA votes for his performance in the Round 6 clash with the Giants.

The skipper put in a physical outing through the middle, totalling a game-high 39 disposals, 24 contested possessions and 13 clearances (eight centre clearances) in a game where the midfield unit was firing.

The performance now sees Cripps sitting in seventh position on the AFLCA leaderboard after Round 6, level with Harry McKay.

Sam Walsh was another example of a brilliant midfield brigade, receiving eight AFLCA votes in a performance where the 23-year-old recorded the most score involvements (17) of any Blue since the stat was first recorded.

As well as his ability to bring others into the game, Walsh contributed 35 disposals, 11 contested possessions and gained a team-high 511 metres. He's now recorded 17 coaches' votes from his opening two games of the 2024 season.

The ruck duo of Tom De Koning and Marc Pittonet also impressed coaches, with the pair both receiving three votes each.

In a game where Carlton dominated the midfield battle (41-28 hitouts, 48-32 clearances), the buck started with the tall timber, working brilliantly in unison against a quality GWS midfield.

De Koning also contributed a career-high three goals and eight contested possessions, while Pittonet's physicality was evident with seven clearances and 25 hitouts.

Rounding out the votes was Matt Kennedy, who polled a single vote.

Enjoying a prolific start to his 100th game in the midfield (17 first-half disposals), Kennedy was forced to shift roles after Zac Williams was subbed out, and he once again performed strongly. He finished with 27 disposals and six intercepts, as well as pushing forward to slot the sealing goal in his milestone game.
