The following is a comprehensive list of Carlton’s senior footballers known to have served their country in all conflicts.
A total of six senior players served in the Boer War, 91 in World War 1, 133 in World War II, and one – the reserve grade player Daryl Christie - in the Vietnam War.
Alex Johnston served in the Boer War and both World Wars.
Seventeen footballers are also known to have made the ultimate sacrifice – twelve in World War I, five in World War II.
It is possible that more Carlton footballers will be identified as having served in wartime. To that end, the Club welcomes feedback from the descendants of Carlton senior and reserve grade footballers who served but are as yet not listed.
