HARRY McKay’s comments on the Good Friday SuperClash were consistent with all the noise coming out of the playing group this week.
“It’s really special. It’s an amazing day.”
The Blues and Roos once again came together in support of the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Good Friday Appeal, with the entire spectacle very much painting the picture of a day that’s bigger than just the football.
With hospital visits during the week and patients coming to IKON Park the day before the game, it’s been a week of giving back for the Blues and their players.
For McKay, he’s hopeful it’s a day he can play on for years to come.
“Quite a lot of us got to go into the Royal Children’s Hospital during the week, it was a really special day. I spoke on my podcast during the week about the joy it brings not only us, but to be able to put some smiles on them faces of the kids, the families, the nurses and everyone involved — it’s really special,” McKay said on Triple M.
“50,000 under the lid at Marvel is a really unique vibe and atmosphere. I’ve been loving it the last couple of years, hopefully we can keep the slot and keep people coming through the gates.”
And the work in support of a cause bigger than the game hasn’t stopped for the Blues.
Led by defender Mitch McGovern, the playing group came together to announce an auction earlier this week, with all sorts of personal footy items on offer. With items closing from 7pm on Sunday night, it’s still not too late to bid, all the while supporting an incredible cause — all funds raised will go towards the Good Friday Appeal.
Coming together to support a cause close to our hearts. 💙
